Semester Two 2019 - "And She Shall Have Music"

Our second major concert of 2019 occurred at the end of semester two.

This concert celebrated music written by women composers through time, from Hildegard von Bingen to Sally Whitwell, celebrating their proficiency while addressing their lack of recognition. This concert was compéred by soprano Erin Hitzke, who shared stories about the composers and their works.

QUMS was joined by guest artists Louise Denson and Martha Baartz, playing a selection of jazz pieces they co-wrote on the piano and saxophone, respectively.

Our musical director Robert Stewart conducted the majority of the concert, accompanied by Christian Gante. Our Assistant Music Director Guillaume Lemay-Yates conducted Light of A Clear Blue Morning and Let The River Run.
