QUMS proudly presents its end of semester 2 concert: A Celtic Odyssey.
Join us for an afternoon of musical delights as we go through the journey of the Celts from their origin, their diaspora and their present day contemporary counterpart. You will be treated with wonderful Gaelic & Irish tunes, modern folk songs and more!
Featuring well-known traditional tunes such as Danny Boy and Wild Mountain Thyme arr. Gordon Hamilton, contrasting with popular folk songs like Zombie and 500 Miles! All set in the magical space of Princess Theatre, in which QUMS has never performed before.
And why not grab a drink while enjoying our beautiful voices? There will be a Cash Bar in the theatre and you can grab a beer, wine or soft drinks for an affordable price :)
Note that we can only accept cash payment on the spot, but there is an ATM at the Princess Plaza next door to the theatre.
After the concert finishes around 4.30 PM, join us for an afternoon tea with the choristers in the theatre.
The City of Brisbane Pipe Band is a local non-profit community group, comprising around 25 enthusiastic players who continue this ancient Scottish tradition in sunny Australia today. Formed in 1950, the band proudly wears the McNeill of Barra tartan; plays regularly in local parades, gigs, concerts and festivals; and is an active part of the local piping community, competing in Grade 4 at competitions up and down Australia’s east coast.
Parking
The closest parking is at the Princess Plaza underground parking (Princess Parking). The entrance to the underground parking is right next to the Plaza (see the map below). The Princess Theatre is 2 minutes walk from the car park, and is wheelchair accessible.
Parking here is a flat rate of $8 provided that you buy a parking voucher from us. Otherwise, it will be $14-18 for 1-3 hours parking as written in their website. Please get the parking voucher together with your tickets. Your parking voucher will be available for collection from our front-of-house on the concert day. You don't need to have the voucher in hand when you enter the car park - you only need it when you leave.
Important - you still need to get a ticket when you enter the car park. When you leave, scan that ticket then scan the voucher afterwards, and the gate will open for you.
We only have very limited number of vouchers left - if you plan to drive, secure your voucher by purchasing them now :)
Public Transportation
Princess Theatre is only 3 minutes walk from Mater Hill bus station. From the station, take the exit that goes to Stanley St / State Route 10 towards Annerley Rd (the exit on Platform 1). You should see Coffee Club and Subway on that exit. From there, turn left and walk south-east on Stanley St until you reach the traffic light on the T-intersection. You should see the Brewhouse pub across the road. Cross the road towards Annerley Rd on the Brewhouse side (left side of the road) and keep walking. The Princess Theatre will be on your left, just about 70m past the Brewhouse. See the map below.
